If you are not interested in owning a Google branded device, but want more RAM and a thus a bit longer useful life expectancy out of your next phone, then this may be your next device. Sadly, the Moto Edge doesn’t have a headphone jack or a SD card slot as those only appear on their lower-tier Moto G phones, but they had to be removed partly to due to the IP68 water-resistance certification. With the predominance of bluetooth earbuds and 256GB of internal storage, you may find you don’t miss the external ports. When you have it in your hand you will fully appreciate the higher cost in order to have a more premium device.

Minor blemish details

Details on the item lisings that are being sold at a steep discounts due to blemishes:

  • me24-sb1: This device reports 100% battery capacity but there is slight screen burn-in. This means if you view a pure-white screen you will see slight shadowing or possible residual icons or text. This is not noticeable during regular usage. I tried my best to capture the screen burn-in in a photo, but it is very hard to observe without seeing it in person. Also note there is a minor scuff in the silicone back. See actual photos below

NOTE: iodé (also spelled iodé or iode) themselves do not provide official builds for this device, but we at OpenMobile create our own builds and provide OTA (“Over The Air”) monthly updates for them.

NOTE: Due to manufacturer or build limitations, these devices are sold with the bootloader unlocked. There may be a message at boot to this effect, but never fear: your personal user data is always encrypted and secure with modern Android! It can only be decrypted using your login pattern or password.
 While an unlocked bootloader by itself does not expose your data, a malicious actor with some programming skills could, in theory, tamper with the system to access your data after you login and start using the phone again.
 If you feel that your system may have been subject to an attack and do not trust using your device without resetting it, contact us to assist with reinstallation.
